I spent my five high school years in Kuala Selangor Science School aka KUSESS...before that, I came from SKKGV...in my primary days, I had multi racial friends..one of my bestfriends is Chinese, and boys and gurls mingled a lot...those were the carefree days, full of fun, mindless jokes, naughtie pranks...and nothing to worry about except UPSR in standard 6..heck, we were still kids running around..The only reason I wanted to go to boarding school so much was because my bros and sis went..the eldest to semsas...then my sis to stf....another bro to kys..I didn't even know the concept of these schools,had no idea there were so many..all I knew was the famous,long-established ones-TKC,SSP,STAR n of course STF....then one day the letter came..."KUala Selangor??Where the heck is that??"...huhu...I didn't really care whether it was exclusive or not..I just wanted away from the house! -INDEPENDENCE!!!
Apparently....NOT.I'd say life in boarding school is pretty limited...rules,Rules,RULES..well, actually..I'm ok with rules..mum brought me up in a disciplined kind of way..so i became a prefect.. the enforcer of rules..huhu..when I meet my 'hommies' during breaks...they always ask me what's so great about boarding life?To them,daily school's good enough...freer,laidback..you still get an education..I've a good answer to that...it's an experience to cherish forever!I've always loved being in KUSESS to be completely honest..(I know many are gonna laugh at this statement)..during my years there,it has taught me a whole lot..about family.leadership.friendship...i really grew up.. it's priceless,the times we all fought and argued about some issue or scandal,the times we get moody when we failed at something,the times we hugged and pat each other's back,saying 'congratulations'..the times we stabbed each other to find ourselves only to become bestfriends later,the times we competed against one another resulting in war or battle of the sexes...we learn from both good and bad times..it's funny how time just flies by..one minute we were all form one,still immatured and childish...next thing you know we just finished SPM and separating from each other...
Those who never really liked (or maybe even hated) their life in KUSESS will eventually, I believe, feel the loss...we'll tend to miss the busy atmosphere, teachers piling us with homework.. (hmm..maybe I've gone too far with us missing hw)..hehee..we'll miss the morning siren,the shrieking prefects and voices of some wardens...the juniors who are like our very own multiple siblings... Yes, because we were already in tuned to all that..to not having it anymore now...well,feels different..now that we're out of there, juniors are always saying how wonderful it is to be out of 'hell'...to be able to work and drive and do all we want..it is wonderful..but then,it'll get boring..fast!What did i do right after SPM?..The first week was open-house marathon...followed by another week of hanging out with friends..suddenly it was January..and of all the things to do is loitering around with my friends...
~~~sad to say that im not there at kusess' 10 years celebration
